DR.VENUGOPAL IN HIS SECOND TALK WITH ZUZANA ZWIEBEL TAKES US TO EXPLORE THE PATHS OF AYURVEDA. HE EXPLAINS, "WHY WE SHOULD EXPERIENCE THE LIFE AND TRANSCEND OUR BODY, MIND AND SOUL LIMITATIONS TO BE IN ONE WITH NATURE".
Ayurveda is a science, which helps the common man to share the philosophy of Vedas, but in a more simplified way by making him understand himself.

DR. VENUGOPAL V.A.
When you say nature, we think about the nature we see around us, the whole cosmos. We try to segregate ourselves as somebody different from this. But, if we go deeper into it, we are part of the whole. We can call it an interconnection. The drop meets the ocean and so we are part of the ocean, but the duality is always there.
According to Ayurveda, if you find a harmony in your body, mind, and intellect, you'll be in tune with nature. But for every person there is different path to reach it. We call it - yoga - karma yoga, bhakti yoga, jnana yoga and etc.
There is no exclusive path. For somebody who'd like to go on seeking, there are many paths. Ayurveda as a system was created for a common man, who is part of the society and cannot simply renounce his lifestyle from one day to another. Ayurveda tells him how he can modify his activities knowing himself. The guidelines are straightforward: “Experience the life and then transcend". Once you transcend, you transcend your body, mind, intellectual limitations and you're one with nature.
Ayurveda is a science, which helps the common man to share the philosophy of Vedas, but in a more simplified way by making him understand himself.
Concept of Doshas is confusing for a common man. People ask whether they are Vata, Pitta or Kapha? It is very difficult to answer, because we are all different.
In your own family or town, you can notice many differences. You are brought up in the same environment, you have the same food habits and same lifestyles, but still there are differences. Someone prefers sweet taste, someone spicy one. You can eat only a little bit, but you put on weight easily, but someone else can eat as much as he wants and never puts on. These are things, which everyone knows, but they don't have an answer for them.
It is well known, that the body is made out of the five elements. So, when you understand, which one is predominant in you, how these elements react, when you combine them, then you get an answer. The understanding of the Doshas system means to understand which part of the five elements is more predominant in you. This helps you to plan and manage your life wherever you are and in any conditions you are. That's all.
Dr.Venugopal, hails from Kerala, where Ayurveda is practiced as far back as 5000 years ago. He is a Ayurveda lifestyle promoter, yoga practitioner, pranic healer, traditional counselor and promoter of many traditional alternative therapies. He is associated with many Ayurvedic, traditional social and spiritual activities. His vision is to spread Ayurveda around the world.
It's a very beautiful question because nobody knows what is the definition of health. People say it is absence of sickness (sincere laugh). Imagine, maybe I'm a strict vegetarian, I practice yoga in the morning and I follow many of recommended advices about lifestyle. But if I'm not comfortable with it and I do not identify myself with this path, then my life is not ayurvedic and it is not healthy.
I would describe healthy person - whatever is his profession, food habits, lifestyle and it does not matter in which part of the world he lives – as someone who is confortable in his body, mind and intellect. If the functioning of the body, mind and soul is in balance, then someone leads a healthy life.
Sure, but I would to put it in a different way. I would say it is very important to make the person relaxed and comfortable. Only after the person can open himself for healing , doctor can create environment for absorption (in broader meaning).
It is similar situation to bringing up the kids. You have to create relaxing environment for them, when you are teaching them the wisdom of ancestors and you want them to become people with their own opinion. Because, if you simply want them to be trained, than you create kind of military environment, in which they learn how to obey and act like robots.
In the olden days when you had the family physician or healer, it did not matter if it was ayurveda, homeopathy or allopathic medicine, it was precisely what they were all doing in the beginning – calming you down and making you relaxed.
I have a very good friend, an allopathic doctor. The moment the patient comes, he will say, "Oh, how are you? Okay, where is your son? Is he in Dubai? Has he started sending you money? Oh no, don't worry he'll come to you." He will start speaking so many things to find out what is troubling you in the mind. Then he gives you a consolation by saying, "I know you must be coming for your joint pain or some gas in the stomach," about which he's absolutely sure. "Don't worry, you know it has been there even earlier. Take this tablet again."
This process is very important. I have seen many patients with difficult problems waiting to be treated until their doctor was back in town. Because relaxation or making the person comfortable is one of the most important parts of the healing process.
Narayana! When you say this potent positive word, he is around, as a ayurveda lifestyle ambassador, yoga practitioner, pranic healer, traditional counselor and promoter of many traditional alternative therapies.
Founder & Director of Ayurveda Trails, healing collection of (extra)ordinary people and their stories, whose experiences are transferred into various trails shared by travelers.
He asks, why is all the rum gone. He is searching the stillness in the flow of the water and finding out, that there is no dark side of the moon really. Matter of fact it's all dark!
