NAMASTE!

LIKE A LOTUS FLOWER OPEN YOURSELF FOR INSPIRATIONS...

The lotus mudra affects anahata chakra, the centre situated in the spinal column directly behind the centre of the chest. This heart centre is also known as hridayakasha, which means the space within the heart where purity resides. This chakra is a very delicate centre, for it is directly connected with that part of brain which is responsible for all the creative sciences and fine arts such as painting, dance, music, poetry and so on.

The first preparation to awakening anahata is to change the entire way of thinking. One must become extremely optimistic and positive, always full of hope and never dwelling in the negativity of the mind. Even though the world is full of conflicts, contradictions and deep animosities, one must always cultivate deep peace throughout one’s being.

The classic example is the lotus flower. It grows in water, it is nourished by water, it is surrounded by water and it cannot exist without water, yet the leaves and flower remain totally unaffected by water and are absolutely dry. That is how a yogi has to be. A yogi is like a magician who is able to manage the psychic, invisible and spiritual, the physical, material and sensorial and find the balance.

The lotus blossom represents heart opening, growth and enlightenment. The lotus is rooted in mud and darkness, grows up through water and blooms beautifully above the surface. Like the lotus, we have our own struggles and dark places. Through experiences, we grow toward the light to finally emerge and blossom. Like the open flower, open yourself for healing inspirations…

METHOD:
  • Place both hands in front of the chest so that only the edges of the hands and tips of the fingers touch each other
  • This is the bud of the lotus flower.
  • While keeping the tips of the little finger, the outer edges of the thumbs and the edge of the hand together, open the hands and spread the other fingers as wide as possible.
  • This is the open lotus flower.
  • After four deep breaths, close both hands back into a bud.
  • Turn the palms outwards so that the backs of the hands and fingernails touch each other
  • In this position, rotate the hands downwards so the fingers are pointing towards the ground, and let the hands hang down for a few moments.
  • Then in the same way, bring the hands back into the bud and then the open flower.
  • Repeat a few times, flowing from the lotus bud to the lotus in full bloom.
