NAMASTE!

PART OF AYURVEDA HEALING IS 'NOT BEING AFRAID TO EXPRESS YOURSELF'. THERE IS A THIN LINE BETWEEN 'BEING FOOLISH' AND 'BEING GENIAL'. ZUZANA, IN HER TALK WITH MINI CHANDRAN, GENERAL MANAGER OF THE CGH EARTH SWASWARA, IS NOT AFRAID TO CROSS IT...

In SwaSwara you evolve along with the place. There's so much openness, that you yourself, start opening up and you see things in a new light. It helps to get a lot of the bitterness out of you. You see things, situations in a better perspective which helps you take a better decision. Slowly by slowly, you start opening up and you start loving yourself, you start indulging yourself, you're more kind to people, to your family and friends. That's what happens in SwaSwara.

FEW YEARS AGO I SPOKE WITH DR.DAYANANDA ABOUT THE ROLE OF YOGA, MEDITATION AND ART IN SWASWARA. HE GAVE ME INTERESTING ANSWER…
At the beginning we have to define what meditation is. There are many ways to define it, but in my opinion, if you can spend some time, one or two hours, without disturbing yourself with any further thoughts then that's meditation. I won't say that you need to tie yourself or say ohm or chant, you can listen to music or talk to a friend or sit and observe what's going on around you and enjoy. The same thing happens in art. When you are doing something e.g. you play with the colours and paint - you are in that moment, you are in the present, it is a joyful thing. When you are in the present, you are moving with that and you won't notice how time flies by. That's a kind of meditation in itself. So art releases a lot of stress.

In SwaSwara for guests is organised special yoga called art yoga, performed through colour therapy. Ideas, which guests have in their minds are drawn out and then analysed. It is really interesting process. Work with colours helps to release pressure; it is about playing and enjoying the colours rather than being serious about art. When you are happy, your thoughts are clear and you can think of yourself more clearly. Art helps you to relax and you need to relax your body and mind, without that you cannot benefit. Ayurveda, yoga and art are all combinations of mind, body and inner spirit.

DR.DAYANANDA, SWASWARA (2014)

I think we are one of the few places, which offer the space for art expression. Artists are equal members of our ayurveda team. People usually hesitate to express themselves, when they visit new places. They are worried that they make fools from themselves or they are afraid to admit that they do not know something. We live in a very competitive world, that is why we offer them private guided classes, which make them more confident. The beauty of art is that there is nothing right or wrong. It's your perspective, and in art every perspective is accepted.

AYURVEDA TRAILS IS TRAVEL HEALING COLLECTION INSPIRED BY ART & AYURVEDA LIFESTYLE. I BELIEVE, THAT ART & SELF-EXPRESSION IS THE PART OF THE HEALING…

Yes, part of ayurveda healing is also not being afraid to express yourself. That's what the art meditation or the art classes help you to do. Most of the guests think, they are not artists, because as children, we've been told we're not good enough and the apple drawn on the paper doesn't look like an apple, the ball doesn't look like a ball, and we withdrew.

We should learn, that everything is accepted in art. That's how we need to look at ourselves. We need to be kinder to ourselves. We are not perfect, but we should accept ourselves just as we are, only after we are able to give.

We are very judgmental about ourselves. Our thought process is reflecting on our surface, it makes us look bitter and harder than we are. It is influencing our daily interaction with other people, friends and family. We should change it, we should not be afraid to be softer and express our feelings.

Part of ayurveda healing is not being afraid to express yourself. There is a thin line between being foolish and genial and we are afraid to cross it. We should have a good laugh or cry when we feel it, rather than trying to bottle it up and be an adult.

ART ALLOWS US TO BE FOOLISH. IN TAROT CARD, ‘THE FOOL’ IS NUMBERED WITH ZERO, IT IS THE BEGINNING AND THE END. THERE IS ENDLESS NAIVETY AND GENIALITY IN IT. IT IS A COURAGE TO OVERCOME THE FEAR WE CARRY INSIDE OF US…

That's what I said, as children, we've been repressed. It is not anyone's fault. We are brought up in the system, which celebrates perfection and gives us quite strict criteria to measure the success. We have forgotten a small child hidden inside of us and we project the same harsh criteria and demands on our own children. Let’s be honest, our society is becoming even more demanding on a new generation.

There is a thin line between being foolish and genial and we are afraid to cross it. We should not be afraid to do something idiotic, have a good laugh or cry when we feel like crying, rather than trying to bottle it up and be an adult.

IT IS AN OPENNING PROCESS…

Yes, it can be art form, meditation, yoga or healing procedure - all is part of ayurveda. It just opens you up. It opens up all the windows which we've been closing one by one, they've all been shutting down. I think a lot of people who come here have got most of the windows shutters down.

HOW CAN STAY IN SWASWARA HELP?

Many people, who come to SwaSwara, are going through various emotional crisis. They have problems in their personal or professional life. No relationship is perfect, but we need to accept the people as they are with their flaws. Be kind to them. Everyone needs a time, a space and privacy to see things from different angle. In SwaSwara - all is here - an open space, a privacy and a vast expanse of nature.

You may not hear the answer you want to hear, like: "Yes, come." But there's no harm in a person who's on a cancer remission or any other serious disease to come here only for Well-being programme. They just can be here, meet people and feel normally - not like a ‘patient-patient’
