Princess Gouri in her eight talk with Zuzana Zwiebel says the whole world, all creation, should be blessed, because we are all interlinked.
Dharma is a very difficult word for which there is no translation. Really… It is a concept. Our own family motto is 'Dharmo smat kuladev atam'. Kulam is a family, our family and Devam, the God is Dharma.
The British translated is 'Charity is our household divinity'. Dharma is not Charity! There is much more to it! It is very difficult concept to explain it to someone, who has not lived from where the word goes.
How would you translate Dharma?
THE TRAVANCORE ROYAL FAMILY is the ruling house of the Indian princely state of Travancore. The family lost the ruling rights in 1949 when Travancore Kingdom merged with the Indian Union and their privileges were abolished by a constitutional amendment in 1971. The Travancore Royalty could be also considered descendants of the ancient Cheras, Ay-Venad, Pandya and Chola dynasties, due to consistent intermarriages with these lines over the centuries. The Travancore royals are among the rare breed of royals who follow the matrilineal system. The members of the family are based in Trivandrum, Kerala and are the ones who keep alive the traditions and rituals of their ancient dynasty including the upkeep of the famous Sree Padmanabhaswami Temple. It is a combination of various factors! In Vedas is written, that you should lead a dharmic way of life. This is what is prescribed. So first you have to understand the meaning of Dharma, components of Dharma and what is a dharmic way of life.
The question is, can we manage to make that practically now in daily life? We try to do something every day. The life itself leads you and you try to go through the normal day. And many people would say, how boring day is today! Nothing excited has happened! But if something goes wrong, then you would be very grateful for the 'boring day'.
We have a beautiful saying: 'Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu'.
That the whole world, all creation, everything in creation should be blessed, because we are all interlinked. Even we do not think so. You may think how we are interlinked. How is the Malayali woman interlinked with let’s say Prague? But we are all interlinked. As human being we share the environment, we share the earth, so we are all interlinked in some way or the other. And that is why everything in creation should be blessed and has 'sukhino' happiness. Only then, you in your little world, will be blessed and at peace.
No, but we recite certain mantras every day, which we have been taught from the childhood.
We have a beautiful saying: 'Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu'. That the whole world, all creation, everything in creation should be blessed, because we are all interlinked.
I have no idea. I do not know how birds sing mantras. But I believe in vibration made by the birds, everything has certain vibration and certain rhythm.
If you look at human body - it is based on rhythm itself, is not it? You inhale and exhale, your heart’s beats. It has a certain 'tala' or rhythm and if that rhythm gets out of quilter, you are in problem.
Oh, definitely…
That is the biggest treasure and that is within you. So you should look for it, exploit it, bring it out, and use it.
Yes, we look together…
You really have to have inquiring mind to go looking into it, which I think you have it. There is a lot to discover... Discover the secret. Use your knowledge wisely and sensibly and be happy doing it. Good luck to you, Zuzana...
