SwaSwara is located on the western coast of India, popularly known as the Konkan coast in the state of Karnataka in South India. Set a little away from the village of Gokarna, nestling amidst rolling hills and lined by serene coconut palms are 24 villas inspired by the homesteads, tradition and craft of the Uttara Karnataka region.
SwaSwara means your inner voice and true to its name, this is a place of natural harmony to release, refocus and recalibrate the self.
Situated on Om beach, there is little, apart from the rhythm of the rolling waves and the meditative hum of birdsong, to disturb your inner explorations. Crafted in colours of the Earth, and in harmony with the land that nurtures her, SwaSwara is designed for holistic and transformational experiences; a space where the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda and Yoga embrace you to rejuvenate body and spirit.
Inspired by the first sound of creation, Aum, the resort in Gokarana on Aum Beach is a perfect setting to enable one to hear the voice of the inner self.
SwaSwara is cast in the colours of the earth and the ocean and is in harmony with the land and its culture. Its form and spirit celebrates simplicity and purity, in keeping with our ethos of health and well being. SwaSwara goes beyond being a spa in the traditional sense. Neither is it an ashram. SwaSwara is a sanctuary for your Prakruti or the innermost nature of an individual - that special blend of qualities and features that grant it uniqueness!
Dr. Firoz, senior doctor and his wife Dr. Kripa, are the ears of the Swaswara, ready to listen to your life story and ansver the questions about ayurveda and healing. They meet with every patient daily and individually design treatment programmes. Every therapy is personal. The treatments are customised for you by the doctors, often combined with yoga, special diet and other methods to provide deep healing from within and without. Every treatment is based on patient needs and ayurvedic body type. Even the food you're served is individual, with health drinks and herbal preparations that vary with your treatment.
Listen to your inner voice. When you are in the present, you are moving forward without noticing how time flies by.

Asana (postures) which are the foundation of yogic practice are combined with Pranayama (breathing techniques), Mantra (sounds and vibrations), and Dharana (concentration) to bring a yogi to the final state of Dhyana (relaxation and contemplation in meditation).
Nourishment at SwaSwara begins somewhere deep inside the soul and goes beyond the confines of the kitchen. Chefs gently pamper your senses with natural foods grown in harmony with nature, ripened naturally. Lightly tossed, delicately spiced Indian cuisine, inspired by global flavours will appease body and soul.
The Swa Wellbeing programme includes all meals. Rejuvenation, Detox and Panchakarma program, the diet will be pure vegetarian. Based on the Ayurveda doctor’s analysis of a Prakruti, body constitution, each guest will be prescribed a pure Satvic, Dosha specific diet, which will have to be strictly followed.
SwaSwara is poetry in stone, painted with colours that symbolise the grounding energy of the earth, offset by the healing purity of white. Villas invite you to revel in the open and green spaces that have been created within the confines of your walls. These afford privacy, yet open up to the skies and exposes nature in its full bounty to the senses. Yoga deck on the second level offers spectacular views of the countryside and ocean. Earthy and simple as its design is, SwaSwara is not spartan or lacking in comforts. Its architecture pays homage to the terrain and its character while infusing your personal spaces with an abundance of nature that plays its own unseen hand in healing.
Gokarna is a town of ancient Indian mythology, a growing leisure destination and symbolic coastal landscape as yet undiscovered by most of the world. Gokarna means Cow's Ear. It is believed that Lord Shiva emerged from the ear of a cow (Prithvi, the Mother Earth) here. As Gokarna is one of the most sacred holy towns for Hindus in south India, there are also some important temples to see. The Mahabaleshwar Temple houses a huge lingam of Lord Shiva. It is a small and remote holy town, with four of India's most secluded and pristine beaches nestled nearby. It draws both pious pilgrims and hedonistic holiday makers with equal enthusiasm.
Founder & Director of Ayurveda Trails, healing collection of (extra)ordinary people and their stories, whose experiences are transferred into various trails shared by travelers.
Ayurveda has many definitions as medical science. But the main idea of Ayurveda, not treating the diseases. We should see and take it as a part of our life and self-exploration. For me ayurveda means everything.
