SERVES 2-3 PERSONS
Mix the cabbage with onion, green chilli, cumin seeds, coconut, turmeric powder and salt. Leave it for about 10-15 minutes. Heat the oil in a saucepan and add mustard seeds. When it splutters, add the dry red chilli and curry leaves. Stir till the chilli turns into a darker shade. Add the cabbage mixture and stir well. Lower the heat and cook covered. Stir once in a while and cook until the cabbage is barely limp. Transfer into a dish and serve hot.

Its edible flesh is a part of the daily diet of people in Kerala and it is used in most of the dishes. It is rich in fibre, minerals and vitamins and has more than 90% saturated fats.

It contains vitamin C and carotene in high amounts. It has many health benefits and it is good for stimulating appetite and for boosting blood circulation. A small amount of red chilli is recommended in the diet to boost the immune system.
