Let us invite you to cook with our chef Rajesh Sishupalan. Today we cook the Beetroot Masala. Beetroot is widely available vegetable around the world. It is rich in silicone and folic acid, therefore they can be beneficial to the female reproductive system. In ayurveda beetroot naturally sweet and aggravate kapha. Cooked beetroot are pitta pacifying, because it transform the starches in to sweeter sugar that are cooling. It cools the blood. Spring and summer is best time to eat beetroot with chapati, naan or plain rice.

Beetroot can be beneficial to the female reproductive system. Beetroot contains a high concentration of nitrates, which have a blood pressure lowering effect and promote blood circulation. It is beneficial for skin because of its anti-aging properties. 

INGREDIENCES FOR 1 PORTION
  • 1 beetroot, slightly pre-boiled 
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • 1 small piece of ginger, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 table spoon/15 ml vegetable oil
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • ½ teaspoon coriander powder
  • ½ teaspoon chilli powder
  • ½ teaspoon garam masala
  • fresh coriander leaves, chopped
  • salt to taste
METHOD
  • Peel the beetroot and cut it into small pieces. In the pot cover it with water and boil it until it is semi-soft. Let it rest for a while.

  • Prepare a garlic-ginger paste. (Chopped them to small pieces. Crushed them together in the mortar until the past is smooth.)

  • Heat the oil in the saucepan, add chopped onion and fry slightly. Add garlic-ginger paste and chopped tomato.

  • Seasons it with the spices. Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, chilli powder and garam masala powder.

  • Add pre-boiled beetroot and add hot water for boiling it.

  • Stir and cook for 10 minutes.

  • Serve hot garnished with coriander leaves.
