Let us invite you to cook with our chef Rajesh Sishupalan. Today we cook the Tomato Soup. It gives abundant of health qualities. Tomatoes are sour, juicy, with a hint of sweetness, so that rehydrate salivary gland, moisten mouth and stimulate taste buds. Ayurvedically tomatoes are madhura (sweet), amla( sour). They aggravate pitta dosha in the digestive tract, so pitta prakruti person take in moderate. Preferably it is good during daytime, but having it at night won’t create any issue either, because it is easy to digest.

A warm and delicious bowl of Tomato Soup provides an extreme sense of comfort during winter. It is a healthy way to strengthen your immune system. 

INGREDIENCES FOR 1 PORTION
  • 4 ripe tomatoes, cut

  • 4 garlic cloves

  • 1 small ginger, crushed into the pieces

  • ¼ tea spoon black pepper, crushed

  • salt to taste

  • pinch of sugar

  • 1 table spoon/15 ml oil

METHOD
  • Cut the 4 ripe tomatoes into the small pieces. Place the tomatoes in the blender, add a half glass of the water and blend until smooth juice. 
  • Prepare a garlic-ginger paste. (Chopped them to small pieces. Crushed them together in the mortar until the past is smooth.)
  • Heat the oil in a soucepan pan. Add garlic-ginger paste and fry till it is slightly golden brown. 
  • Pour the tomato juice into the saucepan and cook for 10 minutes.
  • Pass the soup through a strainer into the bowl and pour it back into the saucepan to boil it for few minutes. 
  • Add salt, pepper, sugar. 
  • Serve hot, seasoned with chopped coriander leaves.
